Planning a reception that feels uniquely yours starts with the right space. At Ambient Plus Studio in Atlanta's West End, we've hosted hundreds of couples who wanted their celebration to reflect who they are, not a cookie cutter template. Our 100-year-old cotton factory gives you 25,000 square feet of hardwood floors, exposed brick, and west-facing windows that catch the evening light. From there, you build the reception you've been imagining.
Building Your Reception in an Industrial Canvas
Creating a memorable reception comes down to three things: a space with character, the freedom to customize, and the practical support to pull it off. Stage 1, our 10,000 square foot main event space, holds up to 500 guests and adapts to whatever vision you bring. We include tables and chairs; you bring your own caterer and vendors, and the room transforms based on your choices.
Choose Your Reception Layout and Flow
Start by deciding whether you want a ceremony and reception in one space or separate areas. If you're keeping everything in Stage 1, we offer a ceremony fee that includes a flip crew and two extra hours. Your guests enjoy cocktails in another part of the building while our team moves chairs out and brings tables in. When they return for dinner, the space looks completely different.
If you prefer distinct ceremony and reception spaces, use Stage 4 for your vows. It has white brick walls, a skylight, and built-in effects lighting that shifts through the RGB spectrum. After the ceremony, move everyone to Stage 1 for your reception.
For intimate receptions up to 50 guests, Stage 3 works beautifully. You get 10 hours, a kitchenette, 11-foot ceilings, and an optional private entrance. The space includes audio visual equipment, furniture setup and breakdown, and a security guard.
Design Your Reception Aesthetic
The industrial bones of this building give you a foundation to build on. Exposed brick runs along the walls, hardwood floors stretch across 10,000 square feet, and 15-foot ceilings let you hang installations or drape fabric without spatial constraints. We have string lights installed permanently, which adds warmth and saves you the cost of bringing in your own lighting setup.
Some couples keep it minimal and let the architecture do the work. Others transform the space with greenery, fabric draping, or lounge furniture.
Select Your Vendors and Build Your Menu
Our open vendor policy means you hire whoever you trust. Bring your own caterer, as long as they carry insurance. The kitchen in Stage 1 has refrigerators, ovens, and microwaves, so your catering team can prep and plate on site.
Your menu shapes the reception experience as much as the decor does. Whether you want a plated dinner, family style service, or food stations, your caterer has the space and equipment to execute it.
Bar service follows the same approach. You bring your own alcohol, and your licensed caterer serves it. We include bar kits in your rental, and you can add a second bar kit if you need multiple stations. One important detail: alcohol must be given away, not sold.
Create Memorable Moments With Light and Atmosphere
Evening light through our west-facing factory windows creates a natural glow that photographers love. If your reception runs into sunset, you'll see the space shift from bright daylight to warm golden hour light. That transition becomes part of the atmosphere.
After dark, the permanent string lights and whatever additional lighting you bring set the mood. Audio visual equipment is included for Stage 3 receptions, and you can hire a crew to run A/V in Stage 1 if you need managed sound for speeches, slideshows, or a DJ setup.
Conclusion
Your reception should reflect the two of you, not someone else's idea of what a wedding should look like. At Ambient Plus Studio, you get the space, the flexibility, and the support to build that celebration.
